How To Pray For 5 Minutes

Are you struggling on developing your prayer life? I will share with you three simple steps that you could use in order to grow in the word of God and your Prayer life!

When I began my prayer life, I learned something called the 5x5x5x.

  • It's 5 minutes of Reading and Studying the Bible

  • 5 minutes in Prayer with God

  • And 5 minutes in Worship with God

If you can start there you will began to notice a shift in your prayer life. You will have the desire to study the bible more. And you will want to communicate with your Heavenly Father even more.

Developing a prayer life doesn't have to be hard. Prayer is communication between you and God.

It doesn’t have to be this long-drawn-out prayer, and you shouldn’t feel like you must pray like someone else. In scripture Jesus teaches us how to pray. Matthew 6:9-13 (NIV) Jesus clearly states to pray like this:

“‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, Amen!"

Prayer isn’t just about asking God what He wants us to do—it’s about getting to know God for who He is.

If you don't know what to pray, you can pray scripture. In the book of Psalms David shared with us his heartfelt prayers to God. My favorite scripture to pray when I need God's reassurance is Psalms 18:2 “The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.” (NLT)

From this scripture my takeaway is that “I could take refuge in God knowing that He is always with me." And when I looked up the word Refuge - it states that it's a condition of being safe.

Allow me to pray with you:

Father God in Heaven, I thank you for your love, protection, and favor over our life. We praise you Father for who you are. Thank you oh gracious Father for allowing your word to speak to us in our times of need. In Psalm 37:4 your word states, “Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.” (NASBV) So we ask you Father to Help us stay focused on you Lord, and we invite you to come into our hearts and heal what is broken so that we are able to fully serve you, in Jesus name Amen.
