Let Go Of Your Idols
Many people have received a great calling on their life from God but have not been able to fulfill their purpose because they have not dealt with the idols in their private lives. For God to use us publicly we must submit that part of our heart to Him.
Take for example Saul! He was the first king of Israel. He had everything and didn’t want for anything, but he would not allow God to deal with his jealousies, self-consciousness, and the need to be accepted by others. It is very clear in the bible that we are not to put any idols before the Lord. So as a result of that he allowed the idols in his heart and his envy towards David, left him rejected by God.
1 Samuel 12:21 – “Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless.”
You must make up in your mind who you will serve? You will have to submit to your ways! You will have to submit your thoughts, and trust God to help you let go of your idols. God wants to use you but you must put in the work and stay the course to receive the healing that you need so that you can be that light for someone else and share God’s glory.
“Do not turn to idols or make metal gods for yourselves. I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:4
“Do not make any idols.” Exodus 34:17
